So hopefully you've seen something

So as to pictures, I guess we're out of luck so far.  I was so easy with the tablet but on this island there is no connection for a tablet.  It will come, it will come.  I'm so happy to at least be able to contact you guys so far.  I feel so bad not being able to Skype with Maya and Eli.  We promised them we would do that, but it is not an option so far.
I did happen to get a few messages to Chelsey with the hope that she would pass them on.  Dad really misses the phone chats with everyone.  Yes I actually do too, it is so difficult to know what is going on day by day, but I guess that's really what holidays are all about.
Last night was a formal dinner so we got to get all dressed to the nines.  We also got a formal portrait done, but of course, I didn't bring a curling iron, so we'll just see what happens.
Just for your information Jon, right across the street from here there is a CIBC.  Quite amazing, a Scotia Bank, Royal Bank and CIBC.  In the fifteen minutes that we've been here, we've found the internet cafe, and noticed right side driving.  We have a small tour in a short while.
At 4:00 we get back on the sip and carry on to who knows where.
Dad just found out they call in the first caribbean bank as opposed to commerce bank.
I tried to post something yesterday, so I'll try to find it now and re-type it.
If that doesn't work, I'm going to give up for today.

Another long story short

Well trying to post has been a nightmare!  After quite some time we finally reached land this morning.  That idea of cruising as of yet should have remained just an idea.  It is quite hoity toity.  Talking with people after they ask where you're from the next question is how many cruises have you been on.  We feel like virgins in a sea of well you know where I'm going with that.  It seems the more cruises you've been on, the higher your status.  Although we haven't given it much of a chance this is it in a nutshell.
Internet cost .69 per MINUTE!!!  Wine costs $7.00 per glass, pop $2.00!  They do allow you to breathe for free but that's about it.  We're also among the youngest on this ship.  Seems to have an average age of about 70-80.  Out of about 300 people, there are some poor young darlings, teeny boppers I would guess, but there are only about eight of them.
So this morning we landed in Antigua.  This firm land is a welcome event for my balance.  It is so hard for me on that ship, I just can't believe it.  That combined with my horrific sense of direction combine for a lot of wondering where am I, where have I been and where to next!  Of course your dad has had to do a lot of babysitting.  I have a few spots where he could find me if he wanted to, and if he can't be found, he's in the Casino.
The Casino has been quite a disappointment for him.  Although there is Texas Hold-Em, it is done electronically without a dealer.  No throwing in of the hands, no tapping for check, no playing with chips.  All those important things that go together with playing cards are non-existant.  It also goes very fast with blinds, so unless you're aggressive you're blinded out pretty fast.
There is big talk about the football game on Sunday.  Everyone (well most everyone) is talking about it.  It is surprising to me how many women know so much.
I'll continue on after I'm sure that this posts.

Monday January 27 2014

I thought you may be in for another round of news from us without any pictures.  For some reason, it just wasn't working.  Thankfully, met up with a young buck as we're waiting for our flight.  He found "an app for that" and as things look now should be smooth sailing.  At this very momet we have dodged a bullet and made our connecting flight.  Boarding for this flight started 10 minutes before our last one had landed.  So of course we were quite panicked when we heard the announcement that United Airlines dispatches flights from all terminals.  There was ot even a gate number on our boarding pass so we were quite concerned we wouldn't make it.  The next gate was right beside the one we had just letft so go figure.  Off one airlplane and on to the other.  Pretty amazing.  So we are now on our way to Floreeda.  This will take upour whole day since there is also a 3 hour time difference.  Talk to you later.
But before that, yesterday we went to church in Ladner.  We were hoping to see John and Wilma Van Tol but they happened to be in Belize come to find out.  Quite disheartening though, quite a small church.  Ernst de Vries went there also. He led the Lord's Supper.  On our way out, the was no one who seemed to even notice we were there.  It's so important to welcome guests to your church.  We always try to seek them out so at least they know someone knows they exist.  Even if it's just a wuick hello, nice to see you, it's so important.  It was quite interesting for your dad to see a female elder.  I said we could visit ay church and they could even have a female on the pulpit.  Imagine THAT concept.  Baby steps, baby steps.  Well let you know later how the rest of our day goes.

ARRIVED VANCOUVER

10:30 pm amd we have safely arrived on Vancouver.  What a day!

Florida

Well somewhere are three posts that are "drafts" that I can't seem to find n this computer.  Regardless, when I find them I'l post them somehow.  Not for lack of trying, but  I have been faithfuy doing this.  Shoud have brought that little computer, instead thought it would be okay on the tablet.  Hoping it will be in the end, but regardless here is some news pf us anyway.  We are safely in Foreeda, hoping to make the boat today.  Driving in the shuttle from the airport the driver asks, you are going on a cruise tomorrow?  Tomorrows Tuesday, cruises don't go out on Tuesdays!  We're thinking oh great what have we done now!  Our tickets say Tuesday, so if there's no boat there, we I guess we've got some issues.  Guess we'll wait and see.
The permit on the elevator in this hotel has "Broward County" on it.  You guys ever watch Police Women of Broward County?  Must be this place. Not sure what it looks like in the daylight, but we took a walk last night and doesn't seem to be too much around this place.
I hope this day brings new adventures.  Been a ong way to come and a long time to get here.  Thinking we left on Saturday, three flights later and here we are ready to cruise away like the old people do.

January 25 2014

What started out as such a simple task has turned into a mountain to climb!  The original plan was to fly Smithers to Vancouver at about 9:00 am.  Yesterday evining we got a call from Hawk Air saying the plane could not land in Smithers last night.  Our plane was therefore delayed until 10:30 this morning.  No problem, so we're a little later coming into Vancouver.  Walked outsidee this morning and not a sign of any stars in the sky.  There was also no mountain to be seen.  Things were not looking very good.  Arrived at the airport where we were informed the plane would probably not land.  Leroy was fast as could be and immediately got two seats on hold for us from Terrace to Vancouver for 3:30 pm.  No problem.  Emily would drive us to Terrace and all would be good.  There was a young man behind me in the line up who was also in the same predicament.  Offered him a ride to Terrace also.  So we are happily driving along when we see a large line up of vehicles with  the emergency lights flashing.  Not a good scene for soebody.  Apparently there was a terrible collision which resulted in two to three fatalities.  Road was closed until further notice but looked like would probably be four hours.  We then turned around and started making our way to Smithers with the idea of travelling to Prince George.  We stopped at the travel agent who looked after changing our flights as well as our new foud friend Jason's.  Get close to PG and started texting with Travis and Elaine who were stuck in the road block on the OTHER side.  Had we realized it at the time, we could have both walked through, switched vehicles and both made it to our destinations.  The information was just not there.  Even though we were inconvenienced, our problems were nothing compared to the problems of the people involved in the collision.  Poor souls, the turmoil they must be going through.
We made it to PG at about 4:45.  There was to be a flight at 5:20, so we were hoping to be able to switch and make it somewhat earlier to Vancouver.  Twas not to be.  Both flights were delayed.  So here we sit in PG airport.  We are here safely, but in for a long wait.  At last word, Travis and Elaine were still stuck.  I guess it could always be worse.  We are however still not in Vancouver although it;s looking good to mke it that far today.  We really are praying for all those involved in traffic problems this year.  Our highway was just recently re-classified so our road maintainance should be on the up and up.  I sure hope to get some pics posted this time too.  New technology so I hope this works.  Love to you all.
