Last for the night

So I thought the last was the last but I forgot what had happened from now til then. We are booked in a beautiful b&b.  Also when I was young I was told not to be an eigenwijs. Which meant someone who whined too much.   So now I just asked the people beside us what it meant and to my surprise it means someone who wants to do the exact opposite of what the parent is saying.  Hmmmmm. Could that have been me?  Doesn't matter we are comfortable here.
