Black and white

There is a song by Three Dog Night that goes something like this " a child is black, a child is white, together they learn to read and write.  At Jerry and Roliens there was a mated pair of ducks.  The male was black, the female white.  How could they ever possibly know that they were each other's mate?  Nature is so strange at times.
