Dekens farm part one

We knew dads second cousin Peter dekens lived close to Jerry and Rolien.  Joost tells us he is just over there.  There is a sign outside the drive way for the family Dekens.  So off we go.  No sign.  We pull into a driveway and just go knock on the door to ask the people if they know of him.  Sure enough right place.  He tells us his daughter is just re doing his sign because it was weather worn.  Your dad had a wonderful time looking through the barn.  I waited in the car.  Peter gave your dad warning that he would stink.  That was okay with him.  Well stink he did.  But he really enjoyed himself and made another date with Peter so he could show us some more history.  It is so exciting seeing our roots.  Quite an experience.  So there will be more pictures to follow of that.  This is the pile of potatoes that he feeds his cows.  He told dD it is the cheapest form of food.  Interesting.

Describes the potatoe feed opportunity. likely that for him in Holland there is less accessible grain in Europe than in North America and because of the abundance of local potatoes it is a viable option.
